The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14 of which 7 is neutral. Below 7 is acidic
and above it is alkaline. When healthy, the blood pH is between 7.35 to
7.45. The best and ideal pH means it is more alkaline than acid. Our bodies
can not fight disease if our pH balance is compromised. A body that tends
towards acidity is high risk for bacteria, viruses, yeast, and parasites. All of
these thrive in an acid environment.
If a disease is to be successfully managed or prevented an alkaline pH
must be maintained. All body fluids are slightly alkaline except the
hydrochloric acid produced by the stomach. Body cells produce acid as a
by-product of their normal activity. The acid waste is reduced to carbon
dioxide and water in the form of urine and sweat which are
harmlessly excreted from the body. When food is metabolized, not all of it
is used up.
The body has to get rid of its acid wastes. This type can not be eliminated
through the lungs as carbon dioxide and water like cellular metabolism. The
body instead has to buffer the ash or residue remains with alkaline
substances in order to neutralize it. Buffering can be both inside and
outside the cell, and most of the buffering process occur in the blood. All
degenerative diseases including heart disease, cancer, arthritis and other
bone problems, kidney and gall stones, just to mention a few, are
associated with excess acidity in the body. Acidosis is the basic foundation
of all disease. We need to prevent our body to fall into an acidic state which
is eating us up without our knowing it. Let us take a look at some of the
HEART: - alkaline environment creates an ideal heart function. Correct
heartbeat is disturbed by acid wastes which rob the blood of proper
oxygenation and can cause degeneration of the heart. When acid stays in
the bloodstream, it sticks on the artery walls and reduces blood flow as
easily as bad cholesterol does. If acid plaque breaks off and clogs the
bloodstream, a heart attack can happen. Bacteria can also increase the
risk of heart attack and as the immune system fights the bacteria, the
arterial walls inflamed, sending greater blood flow and also increases blood
pressure. The risk of heart disease and heart attack will continue to
LIVER: - our first line of defense against poisons, processes acid toxins
from the blood and produces a lot of alkaline enzymes for the system. It
metabolizes fat into energy. All nourishment through the gastrointestinal
tract enters the blood by way of the liver. If the liver is loaded with acid
waste products floating in the blood, the organ may give up.
PANCREAS: - all aspects of pancreatic function reduce excess acidity and
regulate blood sugar balance. We must maintain an alkaline-forming diet in
order to have a balanced blood sugar level. The organ should be as
healthy as the fluids surrounding it and maintaining a balanced pH will help
the pancreas function normally, thus we can avoid a problems such as
KIDNEYS: - the kidneys extract acid and keep the blood alkaline. It is
responsible for filtering toxins, wastes, ingested water and salts out the
bloodstream. Approximately 1 liter of blood per minute is being filtered by
an adult kidney. If the organ is stressed out with too much acid, this leads
to kidney stones and impaired kidney function. Toxins build up and poison
your blood. Because kidney cells cannot be regenerated, there is no time
COLON: - proper bowel action must be done at least once or twice a day,
and the colon must be kept clean of acid wastes. Accumulation of acid
products will create poison on the colon walls and in the case of
constipation will harden and reabsorb into the bloodstream.
BONES AND JOINTS: - When our body accumulates excessive amount of
acid, you are high risk for arthritis, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia. High
acidity will intensify your inflammation, soft degeneration and bone loss.
